Skills & Employability

Seachange works to improve people’s life chances by actively engaging them with activities to improve skills and gain experience relevant for work.

Recently, seachange has run the following programmes to support people back into employment:
  • The Future Jobs Fund, a government initiative, providing 6-month paid work placements for young people in a variety of voluntary, public and private sector employers
  • The Green Lane Centre job club
  • Beat the Recession showcase events in partnership with the local authority
  • DWP volunteering scheme, which helped unemployed people gain valuable work experience through volunteering

At present seachange provides accredited training and work experience for disadvantaged young people through Coasters Cafe in Eastfield. We also deliver course to the local community. For more information contact, see our Community Food page.

We offer various Self Help groups and courses, for example for people with mental health issues. For more information, see our Self Help page.

We offer volunteering opportunities through our Volunteer Centre. For more information see our Volunteering page.
