About Coast & Moors Voluntary Action

Coast and Moors Voluntary Action is a local infrastructure organisation.

The organisation was formed in April 2007 from the merger of Scarborough District Council for Voluntary Service and Whitby & District Voluntary Action, and we deliver 5 key areas of work:

Identifying and filling gaps
We monitor what local communities need and what services are available. We work with local groups to meet that need and fill any gaps.

Raising Standards
By providing access to information and advice, we ensure that voluntary and community groups have the knowledge, skills and resources to support local people.

Communicating and working together
We provide systems for local groups to work together, share information, network and learn from one another in order to build a stronger local voluntary and community sector.

Providing a voice
We ensure that the views of local voluntary and community groups are heard, by promoting two way communication between decision-makers and the local sector.

Promoting strategic involvement
We ensure that the local voluntary sector is represented on key strategic planning groups such as the Local Strategic Partnership, to influence planning and policy-making.
