Coast 2012

East Meets East project commencing May 2011.

This project brings the benefits of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to the people of the North Yorkshire coast. It will build a partnership between the East End of London and the East Coast to create sports and cultural links between youth groups, community organisations, education providers and sports clubs/teams. There will be a programme of Olympic and Paralympic themed sports and cultural activities throughout the Borough of Scarborough involving local volunteers, sports groups and schools with events and visits at various locations.

As well as the links with Hackney, it is also hope that links will be established with international sports teams training in the Yorkshire region.

This project is delivered by seachange in partnership with Scarborough Borough Council and the London Borough of Hackney Council. It is supported by the North Yorkshire Coast Community Partnership and North Yorkshire County Council Community Fund.
